“O’Kiersey… left a powerful impression of directness, spontaneity and coherence, and made it look easy,” said Kenneth Baker, art critic for the San Francisco Chronicle.
Rooms full of large, colorful oil paintings greet viewers of O’Kiersey’s work. Charcoal drawings, done on site, show familiar places including Laupahoehoe, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
O’Kiersey’s artwork is on display at the Pop-Up Gallery located in the old Hasegawa Store at 45-3593 Mamane Street, across from Honokaa Peoples’ Theater.
The exhibit continues from 1-6 p.m. Monday through Friday through the end of this week.
A reception is slated for 6 p.m. Friday, which also is First Friday in Honokaa.
O’Kiersey currently lives in Ahualoa.
